Not enough Offensive Lineman. Too Many Injuries.

Eli is still elite. Jennings is very good. Williams is promising. Becham is earth shattering. Corey Washington should be playing to add the play making ability that Cruz and Becham have. Defense is terrible. What a disappointment. Jerry Reese has to bear the brunt of the lack of personnell. You let Canty go and you bring in those who do not do the job. Tuck wanted to stay a Giant. But the sophisticated Reese thought he knew better. Pierre Pual cannot do it all alone.

Not Eli's fault. Offensive line and timid receivers. Even the announcers said so on Sunday.

Gary Myers sounds off in the Daily News as usual Contradicting himself and not having to give an account of the numerous inconsistencies in his reporting. The luxury of a writer Bs is not just tolerated. It is encouraged. First of all no quarterback can do much without protection. Without a good offensive line a good or great quarterback becomes ordinary. One can see that with Peyton and Brees this past week. Brady lost two Superbowls to the Giants because they were able to rush him. Wilson had all day to pass yesterday. Manning has not had that luxury in a long tim. As far as the Giants wide receivers preventing interception, even the announcers said yesterday that the Giants receivers should not let interceptions occur. That is that. It is the offensive line. Not Eli

Talent is just not there this year. Offensive line musical chairs.

Unfortunately, reporters must speculate, agitate, fulminate and gyrate about Manning having a bad year and the mis-communication with receivers. The fact is that he has gotten beat up all year and is lucky he escaped without serious injury. The Giant super bowl teams had offensive lines that had been together for years and suffered fewer injuries. Jerry Reese admits that he could have done a better job. He failed in getting linebackers and offensive lineman. He lucked out in finding Beason. Too little too late. Reese has some ex-Giants playing every day for some good teams while he is making more bad decisions. The giants ruined running back Wilson. That is on Coughlin. Great coach. Great quarterback. They need better players on the offensive line and at linebacker.

Still the Offensive Line.

When the Giants won the last two super bowls they had an offensive live that was together for many years. Not only do they not have that now, the OL that are good are injured while the rookies learn on the job. On defense the pass rush was not good until last night when they woke up. Or so it seems. Look at any quaterback and you wild see that none do well without pass protection. So cut the nonsense about Eli. The OL is not quality.

Giant's mouths got out of hand. Or more like foot in the Mouth.

The Giant players motivated the Dallas players more than their coaches could or ever did. A banged up team played well, especially defensively. They held the Giants in the red zone to field goals on their first two possessions. Yes there was a slow whistle on the Cruz fumble. But the Cowboys were very beatable and the Giants let a team without Lee and which was pummeled by the Saints, beat them. All of a sudden the defense stops blitzing and gives Romo all day to passe. Especially after McBride got hurt. Four guys stand around while Witten, the Giant's killer, sits in the end zone and easily catches Romo's pass. The Giants motivated a lousy Dallas team to play over their heads. They deserved what they got.

Four Game Winning Streak

The Giants were fortunate that Rogers was unable to play. Yet the Giant defense is showing that they can play with the best of them. This will be very important down the stretch as the Carolina Panthers are showing. With the advent of Beason, a rejuvenated Pierre-Paul with a revived Thomas with the ever reliable Rolle, the Gianst D looks formidable. Eli needs to take something from Drew Breese's book. Let your receivers make plays. Especially Randle who seems to catch anything thrown to him. The interceptions thrown by Eli are pattern problems. No need to always get fancy. Throw it to Cruz and Randle. Use the backs more. This offense needs to make plays. Not become timid. Justin Tuck is showing how he can play when he sets his mind to it.

Peyton Manning the best all time and myths about Quarterbacks.

Newspaper and television reporters wax daily about the fact that Peyton only won one superbowl and his poor playoff record. The answer is that the Colts and Denver never would have been there without him. No quarterback can win without pass protection. It is the reason Brady lost both superbowls against the Giants. Manning has been largerly without a good running back and a good defense for all of his career. There is more bs from reporters this year about Eli. The fact is the offensive line stunk in the first six games as well as the defense. Tarkenton never one a superbowl because of defense. Same for Jim Kelly. Dan Fouts did not have a defense either. Last year Denver wins if the defensive backs do not make the most fundamental of mistakes. Flacco is not the same this year without antoine beaudoin. Montana is not the same without Rice. But he mainly had great defenses. Peyton is better than Montana. No question. You also might put YA Tittle second because he never had the running back nor great defenses. The moral of the story is do not listen to reporters and commentators who constantly repeat themselves in order to come up with something to write or say. The need a pacifier to keep them in control.

Giants problem is still the Offensive line which was a little better on Sunday. But the lack of a short passing game is hurting them. Later in the game they used Cruz for short gains. They have to do that from the beginning. That is why they have no rhythm. Actually, the Giants did play better against a very good Chiefs team. Except for Carolina, which was the worst team they faced, they competitive in all their games despite a deficient, injury ridden, offensive line.

Good defensive backs take more penalties. Why not if the refs are dumb.

What many do not realize is that winning football teams are smart to take penalties, especially, 5 yard penalties, when the alternative is a long gain or a touchdown. Baltimore used it last year and it helped them win. Denver did it against the Giants when the defensive backs took eight penalties. The other factor is it gives the db an open shot at the receiver which can take him out of the game or intimidate him. referees have to get savvy about this. League officials should take heed. Too many times no penalties are called at all. Sportscasters sometimes get scared to call things as they are. As in the obvious hold against San Francisco in the Super Bowl. San Fran should have won that game. The official decided it.

Offesnsive line, Offensive line, ditto, .......

If you cannot make openings or protect the passer there is no offense. Not Eli. Not Wilson. A terrible offensive line. The receivers are good, the quarterback is still elite. Get that line in order.

Justin Tuck is the reason Giants are not in the playoffs

The reality that the Giants are close to last in all major defensive categories has to fall on Justin Tuck. He is the hightest paid defensive player and he is not delivering. These Giants have always worked off the pass rush and stopping the run. Not this year and Tuck must shoulder the blame. Strahan performed at a very high level to the end. When he knew he did not want to do it anymore he retired. Look at the stats. If he plans to continue as badly as he did this year he should retire. My opinion is that Tuck worries about long term damage to his body after playing such a violent game. That is ok. But he should not play then. He is the leader of the defense and it feeds off of him. He should do better because offenses double up on Pierre-Paul. But to no advantage. Pierre-Paul had become less effective through no fault of his own and Tuck has not capitalized.

Giants were smarter today

The first good thing was not to throw to Nicks who has been a shell of himself the past two weeks.`The Giants slowed themselves more than the opposing defense. Second, they used Wilson more and this made Bradshaw more effective. The kid makes plays that Bradshaw would not have made and vice versa. Mixing them up gives the defense pause. Getting Randall more plays was another good move. It opened things for Cruz. So we have to say the coaches messed up more than the players. And what is the story with Barden? It is a game of inches. The defense did play better. But the offense made it easier for them.

Receivers and little use of Wilson are the problems.

Receivers have to step up and catch the ball when it is thrown. The Giant receivers have become too finesse and forgot how to live in the trenches. Cruz made a great catch and took his lumps. Reed made a dirty hit and will be fined for it. If you watch the New Orleans receivers and also Seattle, you see receivers finding a way to catch the ball even if there are two or three defenders. The other problem was lack of use of Wilson. How do you only give him three touches??? Yes the run defense is bad and the Giants miss Philips and Snee. But this team has gotten too dainty.

Nicks was the Turning Point

If you cannot catch it you should not let the defender catch it. That was the basic point Nix made. He was frozen rather than being active to knock down the football before it came or to knock it out of the defender's hands. Good and smart receivers know this. They have to step it up a notch. Couglin also made the same mistake the Falcons did last year when they went for it on fourth and one. The Falcons did play well. But Coughlin could have prevented his team from falling apart. The Same Eli (with pass protection) and shame on Phil Simms

The Giants protected Eli and he showed what he can do. The quarterback Simms places above Eli did not do well without pass protection. So shame on you Phil. Eli is elite. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/phil-simms-eli-manning-isn-t-elite-doesn-001700493--nfl.html On the whole the Giants looked terrific. Webster got me worried with his allowing a long touchdown again but he quickly retained his stature with some great plays. Nicks still gives a great effort despite being hurt. Cruz is still great tho he has to make sure he has the ball before he runs. Randall is an emerging star and Wilson will show what he can do next week. Offensive line was back in form and the d was fabulous. I think the storm has a lot to do with the Giants being distracted, besides Cincy being better than most realize. Pierre was great as usual with Osi making that great play. The Giants are back. Watch out. Say you're sorry Phil!!!

Protect Manning and Start Wilson

Already the pundits are saying what's wrong with Manning. No touchdown passes in so many games. Well duh. How many quarterbacks can pass without protection. Look at Michael Vick after he lost his all pro lineman? Neither did the great Y.A. Tittle do well when the Eagles sent the whole team on blitzes. Likewise with Payton when the Steelers and Chargers blitzed him a few years ago. Sure some of the receivers are missing routes or not adjusting. But without protection or a good running game, passing will be tough. At any rate time to start Wilson.

Steeler secondary seemed to figure out Giants passing game.

Steeler secondary seemed to figure out Giants playbook. Interesting that the coaches did not figure it out. The Steelers were aggressive and, contrary to some press accounts, got away with a lot of fouls. One can blame this on Sandy, but the last three weeks have shown the passing game to be weak. Part of that has to do with the lack of a running game. Bradshaw may be an adequate back. But he seems to have lost a step. Wilson deserves more staps, along with Brown. Gotta get the running game going. Special teams was a disaster for the Giants. Credit the defense for bailing them out. The defense got tired at the end with the offense giving them no rest with the numerous three and outs. They need to put in a good work week and learn from this.

Giants must put teams Away

Giants seem to do better when coming from behind. When they are leading the coaches become cautious and do not play right. They have not learned to put teams away. That is one of the reasons for Eli's fourth quarter comebacks and sensational two minute drills. That is the only time they release him and let him be himself. Corner back Brown is great on interceptions. Not that great on coverage. Giants should play Wilson and Brown more. Bradshaw needs more humility. He is good but limited. Refs killed the Giants yesterday. Gave Dallas all the calls. Again. Critics say that Eli gets the team in trouble then has to bail them out. Not so. The cautious play calling makes his numbers look bad early. Notice that when Dallas took the lead 24-23 the Giants offense took on a completely different look. They have to stop sitting on leads. And one of the reasons the Giants play down to their opponents is that the coaches don't coach as well in those scenarios. Hopefully, the Giants will learn better. Their coaching is still way better than Dallas whose coaches cannot put a game plan together. Dallas has a tremendous amount of talent which good coaching would improve their won-loss record.

Cruz and Is Eli the best?

The winning touchdown was not that easy. Cruz and Manning read the corners who were leaning short, so they let it fly. Three guys running after Victor. All those short passes before this set up this long completion. Strange, that with all this fourth quarter come from behind wins, instead of praising Eli, some say it is the early mistakes by him which set this up. Not true. Rather it is usually in the fourth quarter that the coaches let Eli be himself where he can dominate. Rodney Harrison, from Sunday Night Football, admitted what many are slow to recognize, that Eli is the best. And the best is still to come. Giants do have to run some more. Considering how good R III is, the Giant defense did a good job. Nice win.

RAmses Barden

The best kept secret. Broke all of Rice,s records in college.
